Anyone got an old banger

Need something for a few months till the summer to run my boy back and forth to nursery when I have him...is anyone about to do away with an old banger that you think has 6 months left for up to 1k?
Gonna invest in something in summer more appropriate when I get my finances sorted but for now need to get from A to as near to B as possible for a while and though before I get mugged off by a traveller on auto trader, I'd try the trustworthy gents on who!
This has been placed on the off topic, mums net part of who obviously!

My first old banger was an Austin Princess, it was a top of the range model when manufactured and had an electric aerial. I was proud of that electric aerial.
Also it had an ashtray to the right of the steering wheel, handy that, good design, never saw it in another car.

Good spot - only 57k miles, probably go for less than £500
Good little motor, not much to go wrong on it apart from the cambelt and clutch

Everyone should start out with an old banger, but parents buy their kids new or nearly new ones for their 17th birthday these days. There was a chinaman who bought his kid a BMW for his birthday and he went out and killed himself in it.
